Yeah, I'd say delirium too. Governments can get pretty crazy, and it wouldn't be so unrealistic for one to start regulating things like love.

Agree, i think Delirum is the most likely of the three to really happen! As she was describing how love is like a sickness, I was thinking, "ya, I totally get that...!"

Lena longs for the promise of "the cure", which she describes as "the chance to be reborn: newer, fresher, better. Healed and whole and perfect again." If, given the chance, would you want to be cured? What are some reasons a person might want to be cured?

Where did you find questions or did you make them up?

Well I could understand someone wanting to be "cured" after a heartbreak

well i guess your hormones wouldn't distract you ever, I guess you would be more productive. However you wouldn't have any friends

I found the questions by searching "Delirium, book club questions" ☺️ They're not mine.

I really liked that the author talked about how the relationship between lena and hana would change after the cure. because it wasn't only about romantic love - it was about friendship love too.

I do think the perfect match idea was interesting. It definitely eliminates the dating headaches and clashes/compromises of different personality types.

It was strange that everyone was so ok with know you would have different interests after the cure

How do you parent without love? The children can still feel love.

That's true J and A. Friendships would also change. That part was sad to me. That even tough they'd retain the memories of growing up together, they would loose the feeling that went along with the memories. It seems that May have more of an impact on an 18 year old than romantic love.

i don't like the idea of matching because there was definitely a social class divide... you can never achieve that much more than your parents.

I think that the children would feel the absence of love. Because they still had it but the parent didn't. Although the parent may have more logic and reason when dealing with a kid. The cure would also take away the anger, no?

It kinda talked about family love - like how her sister checked in on her b/c she was "supposed to" not really b/c she loved lena. i guess the parents were the same way with the kids. i think it talked about how parents didnt hug and stuff like that

It was interesting that her Aunt (I think it was her aunt) had fell in love, but got cured. Then would hang out with her ex-love and her best friend that were paired.

I found it interesting that the cure was so accepted, and there was not more rebellion.

New question...
Before the evaluations, an unhappy Hana says that if her government really wanted people, to be happy, "they'd let us pick". What do you think of the idea of having a pre-determined, worry-free life planned out for you?

True. In any society or group where people try to brainwash others, there are always those that it doesn't work on.
